Who We Are:
Greater Atlanta Schutzhund Association (GASA), founded in 1976, is one of the oldest Schutzhund clubs in the United States. GASA is affiliated with the United Schutzhund Clubs of America. We welcome all working breeds and handlers of any skill level from accomplished Schutzhund competitors to novices. Training is under the direction of Fabian Walker. Over the years, our members have titled many dogs and shown at the club, regional and national levels. Presently, GASA has several members who have handler owned and trained (HOT) their dogs to SchH 3 titles.
Where We Are:
GASA is located about 40 minutes east of Atlanta and about 30 minutes south of Athens at the Ashley Hills Pet Center, 599 Cedar Ridge Road in Monroe, Georgia 30656. Our club field is sodded bermuda grass, with permanent wooden blinds. GASA members come from all over the greater Atlanta area. Visit the GASA blog to get detailed directions.
When Do We Train:
GASA provides high quality training, based on positive reinforcement, in all Schutzhund phases (tracking, obedience and protection). We train on Saturdays in all weather conditions, beginning at approximately 9 am with obedience and 11 am for protection. Practice tracking fields also are available at the GASA club facility. Visitors are welcome!
How to Join GASA:
GASA is a family-oriented club with individual and family memberships. Prospective members start with a 3-month guest membership at $70. If a guest member decides to join GASA and is accepted by the club, an individual membership fee of $150 will be prorated to the end of the year. Family membership is $175. Membership fees are due in January of each year. All visitors and members must sign a waiver form before taking the field - no exceptions.
